“Today I spent a day in New York for the last Monday of my internship. The last three and a half months have been, in a word, lit.

During my train ride into the city I sat across from a couple who clearly still liked each other. He poked her a lot and she lightly tickled his forearm. It really freaked me out. He often stuck his fingers into a newly forming hole in her jeans and smirked sensually at her. She had a phone case that featured a cat floating around in a galaxy and he had a cat button (pin?) on his hipster backpack. I guess they like cats. She was wearing *red* lipstick that was then echoed in her men’s button up t-shirt that she wore, open, over yet another button up shirt. It wasn’t oversized, it was regular sized and I can’t, in good faith, say it was chic. He wore a light gray t-shirt which was *risky* in this 100 degree weather. I stared at them behind my two-tone blue sunglasses so I’m like… pretty sure they could tell. The woman next to them had a fake blue Prada bag :/ the guy next to her was very nice to look at.

I bought a pair of sequin boots today I’m sure I’m going to wear everywhere because I am shameless and don’t care what people say about fashion. Mom says I look like David Bowie and she’s not wrong.

Finally, I started reading Inferno by Dan Brown and am wondering if there will ever come a book where he does not objectify his female characters. He describes Robert Langdon in each book as “a 6 foot tall professor who wears a Harris tweed jacket” and goes vividly in depth about the slender physique of his female heroines. Relax, man. There’s more to women than their “long, tan legs” — we appreciate you making us scientists or cryptographers but give it a rest.”

“LeBron James the basketball player has left Ohio. But on Monday morning, the footprint of LeBron James, the philanthropist, got even bigger in his home state.

The I Promise School, started in conjunction with James’s foundation and Akron Public Schools, opened Monday for 240 third- and fourth-grade students. The school will add grade levels each academic year, and by 2022 is expected to educate children in first through eighth grades.”

Hey, kids.

So weird I posted 2 days ago but here I am once again (did you MISSSS ME?!).

Remember on Monday when I mentioned 3 mosquito bites perfectly aligned across my back? WELL Monday night I was editing music while watching Real Housewives of NYC and a mosquito zoomed past me in slow motion with its legs delicately dangling beneath them. It freaked me out so much that I made the face to the right. I then proceeded to follow the mosquito across my kitchen and then exterminate it with my seven-dollar flip flop I bought at a janky TJ MAXX when I got a blister working in midtown.

​The insect exploded and my soft-gray accent-wall suffered the consequences. Tragic. I’m not saying it was THAT mosquito that gave me the ellipsis branding on my back but by the looks of all that sangre it’s leaving me with little room for doubt.
Last night I went to a stand-up comedy night at my local performance center and let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like bad comedy. I wanted to, in a word, disappear. There’s something about people trying to be funny and failing that makes me suffer from such terrible second-hand embarrassment that I’d rather sink slowly into the ground and vanish into the depths of the Chamber of Secrets. Actually if we’re being honest I’d visit the Chamber on my own for purely academic reasons:

  1. I straddle that fine line between Slytherin and Gryffindor (@Harry) and want to see if I’d be accepted as a friend and enemy
  2. I am not afraid of snakes (@Dr. Jones) and would like to see about putting a leash on that basilisk and training it as a form of Uber transportation
  3. I’d like to find that GAPING HOLE in the ground that Fawkes found in order to fly everyone out of the Chamber, send up red sparks from my wand, and say to whichever professor found me “excuse me, but was this hole not a dead giveaway?”

I feel like this post has taken a weird turn… whatever, that’s my update.

“In a new report from Yashar Ali at HuffPost, published Monday afternoon, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour has allegedly granted Beyoncé Knowles “unprecedented control” over the magazine’s September issue, which hits newsstands August 14.

Beyoncé reportedly hired 23-year-old photographer Tyler Mitchell to shoot her cover photo, which would make him the first black photographer to shoot a cover in Vogue’s 126-year history. Our source close to Mitchell corroborates this report.

According to Ali’s sources, Vogue and Beyoncé signed a contract that would give her “full control” over the cover, the photos of her inside the magazine, and the captions, which she has written herself in long-form. Beyoncé loves a good contract, so at least that bit checks out.”

This morning I am annoyed. I was casually enjoying my Instagram stories this morning when I came across something that was extremely problematic. After watching the first few clips of a KKW Insta-story, a new clip began with Kim asking Kendall to repeat herself and Kendall saying something to the effect of “I’m worried you aren’t eating,” only to have Kim laugh it off, Kendall to say how skinny she looks and Kim to passionately thank her.
 
IIIIIIII have a couple of questions. No, actually, I don’t. I just have something to say. Having someone accuse you of not eating because you look skinny and then saying “thank you” is something... we have all probably done. I’m not going to pretend to be a politically correct angel because we’ve all likely done it. The PROBLEM is posting that exchange to your 114 MILLION followers, most of whom, I assume, are women. The message that this clip sent to her followers is that you need to look like you are starving yourself in order to receive a compliment on your body… that people need to express concern over your health in order for you to be beautiful. Am I being a lot? Am I off? Am I taking this too far? Regardless, I was FLOORED that someone who I actually really admire would post something like this publically.
 
Moving on…
Last night I watched Iliza Shlesinger’s new special “Elder Millennial” and I was AMAZED. I feel like feminist comedy is sometimes hard to come by and she just absolutely killed it. She got it spot on without being demeaning to men or women. It’s like a pep talk and a big ha-ha all in one. I will link the trailer below.
 
Lastly, I got 3 mosquito bites in a row across my back/upper-arm a few days ago. I haven’t gotten a bite all summer and suddenly I appear as though I have been branded by an ellipsis king. UghHHHhhgh.
 
That’s my update.

“Donald Trump’s Walk of Fame Star Has Been Destroyed With a Pickax”

Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is now little hole in the ground with a pile of pink dust and rocks around it. Early this morning a man approached the star, pulled a pickax out of a guitar case, and absolutely laid into the thing until it was destroyed, according to NBC Los Angeles. After leaving his tool at the scene, the literal American vandal reportedly turned himself in to the Beverly Hills police. A member of the LAPD’s Hollywood Division told press the suspect even called the cops before coming in, and told them, “See you soon.”

Good morning, kids.

Let me start by saying this: I saw Taylor Swift last night at her third night at MetLife and *it* *was* *magic* LITERALLY pure magic. This woman didn’t miss a damn beat; whether it was singing on her journey from stage to stage or throwing a random verse of one song into a completely different one, she is the absolute master of surprise. Also, our seats were riiiight next to one of her alt. stages which left us within, maybe, 15 feet of her and, let me just say, that woman’s skin is FLAWLESS. The rain held off during the show until the finale, when it started down-pouring during the last chorus. You don’t know sensory overload until there are fireworks going off, rain is coming down, and Taylor Swift is giving you literal song therapy.

Moving right along… I got a new microphone for the purposes of doing my own recordings and it hath rocked my world. I sent a demo of my next single to some frenz and they agree, my last mic was trash and now I’ve graduated to the big leagues. Moral of the story is: stay tuned for a new bop. It’s a love song… ugh.

I was in Europe for two weeks and didn’t have access to a computer (lmao poor me) so this is my first aggregated post in SOME time. Here’s what I learned in Italy: one dresses one’s salad ONLY with oil and vinegar, one must ask specifically for ground pepper, one must be mindful of one’s footwear whilst walking around and, finally, one must eat all the tomatoes one can before returning to America because DAMN. In London it was a different story: iced coffee is crap, tea is amazing, Harry Potter studios *will* make you cry (unless you’re heartless idk), Harrod’s is like no other shopping experience on earth and vinegar is best suited atop fried cod and *chips* (aka fries but who am I to say for sure).

IT WAS AMAZON PRIME DAY earlier this week and I bet you’re thinking “she’s a fashion-y girl, I get she took advantage of the sales.” Yes, kids, yes I did. But plot twist, my purchases had nothing to do with fashion. What did I get? A microphone and a laptop stand. That’s right, angels, I’m about to sing my heart out while ALSO being heart healthy and not sitting on my rear all day, everyday. Amazing. So healthy.

Finally, yesterday I learned that tea stains your teeth just as much as coffee. That feels unfair. Whatever, that’s my update.

Ok first of all, Boz (aka my Silicon Valley idol) is leaving Uber for Endeavor. That was big news because she was only at Uber as the Chief Brand Officer for a year but she’s a badass and can do no wrong in my eyes.

Next, Demi Lovato came out with “Sober,” a new single which we all think is going to be the headlining single for her 7th album (but also like she JUST came out with Tell Me You Love Me last September so like is she writing songs like the wind or…). If there’s a new album coming soon then someone hand me a Polar seltzer and encourage me to take deep breaths because she moves me. More importantly, though, the song is leading fans (myself included) to believe that after her 6 years of sobriety, she has slipped. Demi has yet to comment on these assumptions but all of us are sending her LOVE and tranquility.

Also, James Kennedy from Vanderpump Rules just remixed Countess Luann’s “Money Can’t Buy You Class” and I can’t breathe lmao. AAAAND lastly, I finally watched “Girls Trip” this week and I “hehehe’d” through the entire movie. Tiffany Haddish has perfect comedic delivery; don’t even argue with me.

Bozoma Saint John is leaving Uber to become the chief marketing officer at Endeavor, the holding company for talent agencies WME and IMG.

Saint John, who served as Uber’s chief brand officer, was brought in by Uber cofounder and former CEO Travis Kalanik in 2017. Saint John previously served as the head of global consumer marketing for AppleMusic and iTunes (and wowed crowds at Apple’s 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference). She also previously worked at Beats (which was acquired by Apple), PepsiCo., and Spike Lee’s advertising agency SpikeDDB.

"When Anthony Bourdain visited the San Francisco Bay Area in 2015 for his CNN show “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” he made a point of sitting down for a meal with one of the founders of the Black Panther Party, Bobby Seale. And he didn’t just talk about the food. He provided viewers an astute history of the group, its important role in the black freedom movement and the African-American community, and its suppression by the government.

I first watched that episode while at an airport waiting to board a flight, at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement had only recently entered public consciousness. Mr. Bourdain coolly narrated that the Black Panthers’ demands were “shockingly moderate: equality in education, housing, employment and basic civil rights,” an accurate statement but one that contradicts the misguided public perception of that unfairly demonized organization. I looked around at the group of mostly white Americans sharing my television screen, awed by how casually radical Mr. Bourdain’s commentary was."
