Post-workout Healthy BreakfastIt was good but it wasn't *too* good...
The story: I randomly woke up at 5:45am one morning, late in the semester. I was already on a health kick so I decided it would be prudent of me to seize my early morning and throw myself into a workout. In actuality, it wound up being more of a 20-minute jog followed by a quick nap on some weight machine. Productive. I got home and felt good about my "workout" and thought "hey, I should supplement the last hour with a really healthy breakfast." What happened: I filled a pot with water and two (NOT CRACKED) eggs. I put the heat on high for 10 minutes and then shut it off and let the eggs sit for a while. In a separate pan I added a tiny bit of olive oil and leftover chopped broccoli. When the broccoli started to crisp, I took them off the heat and scraped them onto a plate. With a little more oil, I added some leftover mushrooms and repeated the same process - basically, idiot proof. As for the avocado toast: toast bread, spread avocado, add condiment of choice. Final thoughts: Breakfast IS the most important meal of the day; it keeps you full well into the afternoon if you pack your plate with protein and healthy fats. Don't skip it. Here's to going to bed later so I never take a nap on a workout machine again. Cheers. |
